AMPHORAE Nested in an old-established organic domain flanked by the Carmel mountains near Haifa, Amphorae produces wines which distinguish themselves by their particularly classic, stylish, elegant if not even somewhere rigorous character. Apart of a small quantity of a respectable Chardonnay, most of the production is red wines, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, a sophisticated blend "Rhyton" and a more approachable (and affordable !) one : "Med-Red". Not yet released will be a "Special Reserve" of Cabernet-Sauvignon 2000. I may be wrong but I think this is the last juice from the 2000 vintage in the country still in barrels. While already more than tempting, the wines show a good ability for some aging, and I'd recommand putting some aside in the cellar for the pleasure of our roasts and cuts from 2005 to 2008....
